If you are having pain, restricted movement or decreased strength in your shoulder that is preventing you from lifting, reaching, dressing, showering, or working, we can help.
Some of the most common causes of Shoulder Pain:
In general, tendinitis, bursitis, and nerve pain caused by repetitive movement, physical or emotional trauma, and cumulative stress over a long period of time and the main causes of shoulder pain.
Many people are often told they have a "rotator cuff" problem, and while this group of 4 muscles which keep the head of your humerus in the socket are major players, there are a number of other accessory muscles that can contribute to shoulder pain including: upper trapezius, rhomboids, levator scapulae, teres major, serratus anterior, pectoralis major and minor, bicipep, scalenes and even the latissmus dorsi. Microtears and inflammation in any of the muscles associated with the shoulder can lead to tendon and nerve impingement. The shoulder often radiates pain so it takes careful examination and skill to determine the root cause because these types of injuries are not easily detected by X-ray or MRI.
A lot of the conventional treatments such as Tylenol, Ibuprofen, steroid injection, and heat/ice, are temporary and can mask the pain but don’t get to the root cause and they can be harmful. This problem requires breaking up adhesions, balancing fascia, strengthening the right muscles, increasing flexibility, and learning coping strategies for stress or trauma. If you ignore, the pain could increase to the point where drugs don't help any more and you could end up turning your minor problem into a tear that requires surgery.
